Course Description
Each of us has a divine path. It is through our connection to our higher self, the part of us that knows and remembers, who we truly are that we find our way to this path. What causes us to forget? What causes us to stray and become aimless? How can I step back onto my path and come to realize my divine purpose in the world?
This course is designed as a process of self-examination, self-realization, and self-transformation. We did not come here to be miserable. We came here to share our gifts and our light with the world. What is it that blocks us from achieving this basic human goal?
We will begin our work together by examining our personal life path. For the first month, we will work with our individual biographies to look for those critical experiences that shaped our beliefs, values and ultimately helped to form our identity. The second month we will examine those aspects of our identity and beliefs that limit our authentic self from shining brightly in the world. Finally, we will look forward to the person and future we are seeking and find avenues for transforming old destructive habits and self-sabotaging behaviors into healthy and self-actualizing ones.
MONTH 1 - Knowing Who I Am - BIOGRAPHY WORK
Every event in our life has helped to shape who we are today. Biography work is a powerful tool for understanding the development of our ego identity. Strengthening the Core starts the process of moving towards empowered self-confidence by examining ways in which our families, our experiences, and society in general has shaped many of our self-limiting, self-destructive habits of mind and emotion.
Every one of us has had moments in our lives when we felt unworthy, ashamed, less-than. Most of us have dealt with feelings of rejection, abandonment and loneliness. As human beings we are designed to avoid these feelings. When we start to live a life based on avoidance of painful emotions that emerged from dysfunctional and unhealthy group or family dynamics we fail to become who we are meant to be. When we limit our activities to avoid people seeing the false image of ourselves, we rob ourselves of the chance to truly shine in the world.
By examining our past, we can reveal where we have been wounded by life, and choose to let go of the false, self-limiting beliefs.
QUESTION: Think of a time in your past when you felt less-than. What was happening? Who was there? What did you come to believe about yourself through that experience? In what ways do you still hold onto those beliefs?
MONTH 2- Knowing Who I Am Not - ENLIGHTENING THE SHADOW
Have you ever thought, “Why do I keep doing this? I know better. I don’t want to. I promised myself I would never get into a situation like this again?”
We have worked towards understanding of who we are in relation and apart from the people, places and experiences we’ve encountered in our past. Now we can begin to monitor how those imposed beliefs about oneself, others and the world are influencing us today. Through means such as self-sabotage, confirmation bias, self-imposed shame and many others, our diligent efforts to live the life we desire are sabotaged. Understanding how these internal negative programs translate into our daily, seemingly mundane, actions is the secret to stepping into a new and empowered life. Without this understanding we may fall into despair, and develop a pattern of learned helplessness making the mind a powerful weapon against our own happiness. In the second month of this course we will learn how to reframe and rewrite our life story that will allow us to empower our brains into a powerful tool, and no longer a weapon.
One day or day one, you decide. I look forward to journeying with you.
QUESTION: In what ways do I find myself repeating negative behaviors, mental processes, etc even when I don’t want to? Think of specific examples. Who are you with? What are you thinking, feeling, doing at those moments?
MONTH 3 - Connecting to Who I Will Be - STEPPING INTO THE FUTURE
Stepping into the dream you have for yourself as a reality and using all the skills you’ve gained to allow emergence of self is the last step of the journey. Find your horizons and push them further to reveal the path to acceptance, joy, and wonder. Creating a foundation from which to jump beyond who you’ve settled into being allows an expansion of possibilities. Using humor and awareness we explore new ways of being that align with how we feel and our visions for ourselves. Creativity, imagination, and flexibility are our guides on this leg of the journey.
QUESTION: What would you do if you knew you were never wrong? How would you walk the path if you knew it always leads you home? What would you choose if you knew the choice always serves you?
